Well, an interesting day. And an odd mix of happenings. Highlight, at least gastronomically, was the gingerbread french toast casserole at a friend's house. OMG, good! Another good thing: found lovely religious Christmas cards on sale and Barnes and Noble for both myself and a good friend. It is truly amazing how many Christmas cards have no Christ in them!
So the low point was a doctor's appointment bright and early this morning. After having surgery on a toe (yes, toe) in August the second toe on my left foot remains swollen and painful. X-rays today revealed that all seems well enough; fusion is going well, the hole the pin left is filling in, nothing is out of place. That's the good news. The bad news? "Let's wait twelve months--if it's still hurting, let me know." *(&;(R*&;Q#)$&;*Q$&;Q_!!!!!! Why is it that things can take so interminably long to heal when we're older?
Which reminds me of something I read last night. The book is titled "A Three Dog Life--a memoir" by Abigail Thomas. A doctor in ICU says, "Good things happen slowly and bad things happen fast." That resonates with me. And others as well. Oh well.
Life goes on...
