December 24, 2012

It snowed last night--but this morning the snow had disappeared as the temperature rose to 38 degrees.  There were stars in the sky when I went to the gym this morning and the sun is shining as I write.  Listening to NPR this morning a thought passed on by David Sedaris caused an (!) in my brain.  He was speaking of reality versus the pictures many folks have of Christmas--a smiling child with Santa versus the reality of a whining kid not wanting to sit on Santa's lap.  His statement was something to the effect of "parents trying to create a life that they really have no control over."  As grandmother to twins (2 1/2 years old), this thought has put an interesting spin on some of the choices the twins' parents have been making....  It will give me a lot to think about.

In the meantime, life goes on...
